I am at fault as much as you are.
We are a speechless generation.
A fat fingered man points his finger and yells:
EXPLAIN YOURSELF
and we, allegedly innocent as babes
have no response
and he is not a devil
because of his age
he is an angel because of his wisdom
and he is ugly and old in appearance
and our generation does not respond
to ugly and old
We want to see our lives on a set.
We forecast the length of our acting careers
Though we are not all actors by profession
we anticipate our downfall to become like Joan Rivers
We have no real causes
other than ourselves.
We prematurely live lives of peace when we secretly sustain
violence beyond the curtain of our shallow consciousness
We consider ourselves activists through canvassing
for companies which simply graft finances off of real charities
We have the look
but we don't have the touch.
We have gone to college and come out
empty handed
There is no one else to blame,
we had it all - but - we believe in ourselves.
We believe in ourselves more than the meaning
of real peace.
The untouchables and the uneducated have no right
to our brand of peace
Our education teaches us
that we are the only ones that matter
we want our cakes
and we want to eats it too.
But it has to be like a sweet 16
or it has to feel like an impressionist painting.
Or it has to feel revolutionary
It has to give starving kids new shoes.
We can have anything we want
Simply because we want it.
The things we want don't cost anything and the futurists will think of solutions
that will give us everything. But we will not be among them. We are only the beneficiaries.
We are all artists. And we are all undiscovered geniuses
that will someday be discovered and the government will pick up the tab until that day.
We reject the finite
we live on 1 sphere.
A nation of artists, divided not with self-interest but egotism,
and the Chinese are looking forward to seeing our artwork.
We cannot commit ourselves to anything
because we must be so much more than anything.
While we live our lives in anything
our brains explode in every direction.
For the time being, I need to take some adderall
to focus on getting the bills paid.
Oh these menial tasks
which are a waste of our prodigious time.
We should be saving turtles
or sleeping with models
Why aren't we taking photos
about our lives?
Why aren't we sharing our lives
on the internet?
Why does no one understand?
Why is there no future worthy of us in the U.S.?
Take a sad song
and make it better.
The economy will recover
as soon as we discover ourselves.
Art saves lives like turkey dinners complete with all the trimmings
dropped down with tables and chairs over Rwanda in '94
And capitalism kills because of money
and we are so tired of money.
Money to us means nothing.
And nature is soft and gentle.
Nature, to us, is a balanced diet
and enough sex to give us our needed self-esteem.
We are not getting out of bed
until all of our Freudian drives are attended to.
We all belong in New York
we all should go to college because that's just the next chapter of our lives.
There is enough for everyone
and there are those that get it, and those that receive it.
We cannot stand what we will think of each other
We are all Jones' keeping up with each other.
In the 21st century, there is no cultural innovation
because there is no sense of destination.
We will will be a nation sustaining nothing but meaningless images
We will be slaves until we have a sustainable vision of our desires;
for ourselves and the loved ones we will be challenged to discover.
